The members of the ARHS Computer Science Club, along with advisor Ms. Ling, started this project in the Fall of 2024. After compiling materials and building the weather station, data collection started in March 2025.

To spread information about the weather near the school to other students of ARHS and staff members, so they can be prepared for the weather they are going to face. In addition, we hope to use the measurements to ensure the weather conditions are safe for local sports teams, to help environmental organizations, and to investigate weather trends with climate change and extreme weather. 

We set up a weather station on top of the football concessions stand, collected using WeatherLink software from Davis Instruments. The data includes temperature, precipitation, barometer, humidity, and wind measurements. From WeatherLink, we share the data with the NOAA's Citizen Weather Observation Program (CWOP, http://wxqa.com/) along with Weather Underground. The CWOP program has created a public database of weather stations and their data, and it is used by researchers worldwide. Weather Underground (https://www.wunderground.com/) is an online website containing a network of weather stations and sensors around the country. It uses data to predict weather patterns for everyday website visitors.
