LAB SCIENCE COURSE
PREREQUISITE: ALGEBRA OR IMP I
This astronomy course investigates a number of the different
components of the universe. Major topics include the celestial sphere,
the solar system, the life of the stars, and a study of the organization
and possible origins of the universe. A planetarium visit and evening
observation activities outside of class will be required. Evaluation
will include tests, quizzes, homework, laboratory reports and projects.
Honors Option: Students electing the Honors Option should be
comfortable using algebra and geometry to solve multi-step problems.
Some homework and laboratory assignments will require supplemental
independent reading and sophisticated computational skills. Quizzes and
tests will include mathematical analysis of concepts in astronomy.
